Advancements in Kinesiology & Biomechanics:

Kinesiology is an academic discipline that studies physical activity and its impact on health, society, and quality of life. Biomechanics is the study of the structure and function of the mechanical aspects of biological systems, at any level from whole organisms to organs, cells and cell organelles, using the methods of mechanics. Sophisticated improvements in this technology continue to enhance the capabilities of treatment modalities in unprecedented ways.

Yoga & Fitness as Physical therapy:

Physical therapists must be aware of the benefits and limitations of Yogic exercises on musculoskeletal conditions. Yoga programs must be modified and adapted to the needs of an individual with disability.

Physical therapy is used to diagnose movement disorders and help improve physical function during everyday activities. Some patients seek treatment to ensure their bodies are functioning correctly in hopes to prevent injury from occurring in the first place.

Movement assessment is the practice of analysing movement performance during functional tasks to determine the kinematics of individual joints and their effect on the kinetic chain. Three-dimensional or two-dimensional analysis of the biomechanics involved in sporting tasks can assist in prevention of injury and enhancing athletic performance. Identification of abnormal movement mechanics provides physical therapists with the ability to prescribe more accurate corrective exercise programs to prevent injury and improve exercise rehabilitation and progression following injury and assist in determining readiness to return to sport.

Who Should Attend?

Importance and Scope

Kinesiology is one of the most comprehensive and holistic forms of natural therapy that recognizes the oriental medicine with the best of modern science to enhance health and function. Kinesiology uses muscle feedback as a stress monitor, to identify and correct imbalances in the person’s structural, chemical, mental, and emotional energy systems. More importantly, it addresses the communication and connection between these systems.

Biomechanics is the sport science field that applies the laws of mechanics and physics to human performance, in order to gain a greater understanding of performance in athletic events through modelling, simulation and measurement. It is also necessary to have a good understanding of the application of physics to sport, as physical principles such as motion, resistance, momentum and friction play a part in most sporting events. The general role of biomechanics is to understand the mechanical cause-effect relationships that determine the motions of living organisms.
